Workman, Cooper Take Barber Poles

Westin Workman and Michael Cooper claimed overall pole positions for this weekend’s pair of Pirelli GT4 America races at Barber Motorsports Park.

Workman, in the No. 68 RAFA Racing Team Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2, reeled off a best lap of 1:28.488 in Q1 to outpace the competition by nearly seven-tenths.

His lap was 0.627 seconds quicker than second-placed Francis Selldorff in the No. 51 AutoTechnic Racing BMW M4 GT4 EVO.

Trenton Estep, a last-minute fill in at ACI Motorsports, was third quickest in the No. 7 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, while Silver class points leader Spencer Pumpelly ended up fourth in his No. 028 RS1 Porsche.

Pro-Am class pole honors went to the No. 77 McCumbee McAleer Racing Ford Mustang GT4 of Michael Tosi, who ended up fifth quickest overall.

Michael Garcia, meanwhile ended up with the Am class pole in his No. 21 ACI BMW.

Q2 saw Cooper go quickest of all competitors across both sessions, thanks to a 1:28.063 in his Pro-Am class No. 33 Blackdog Racing McLaren Artura GT4.

Parker DeLong, who topped Thursday’s opening practice session, will line up alongside Cooper on the front row for Race 2 in the No. 131 Advance Motorsports McLaren, which scored Silver class pole.

Tyler Gonzalez was third quickest in the No. 68 RAFA Toyota, with Matheus Leist and Kenton Koch completing the overall top-five for Nolasport and Random Vandals Racing, respectively.

Denny Stripling, meanwhile, picked up Am class pole in his No. 188 Random Vandals BMW.

Race 1 gets underway this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. CST, with Race 2 set for a 1:35 p.m. green flag start time on Saturday, with both 60-minute contests to be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel.
