Anderson Snatches Pole for First Race of Weekend at COTA

Devin Anderson has claimed pole for the opening Mustang Challenge North America race of the weekend at Circuit of The Americas, beating championship leader Cole Loftsgard to top qualifying honors.

Anderson, in the No. 22 TechSport Racing Ford Mustang Dark Horse R, reeled of a chart-topping 2:18.020 to outpace the No. 42 Round 3 Racing entry of Loftsgard by 0.472 seconds.

Loftsgard entered the weekend with a 170-point lead, which has now been reduced to 160 thanks to the ten points awarded for Anderson’s pole.

Ethan Low put the No. 25 Flying Lion Motorsports entry third on the grid, with Tate Pritt and Sandy Satullo completing the top-five in their Automatic Racing and Wheelhouse Motorsports entries.

Will Lucas, who paced Friday’s second practice, will start sixth after having two of his laps invalidated due to track limits.

Dark Horse Legends pole honors went to Dan McKeever in the No. 77 Wheelhouse entry, who was more than eight-tenths quicker than second-placed Paolo Salvatore.

The No. 9 Paley Motorsport with AAG Racing Mustang of Chris Clarke will start third in class, ahead of points leader Tom Tait, who was relegated to fifth in class after having his second lap invalidated due to taking a short-cut per race control.

Race 1 gets underway at 6:30 p.m. CST with live coverage on Peacock as well as Ford Racing and IMSA’s YouTube channels.
