Danny Formal put the No. 45 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 on top of the time sheets in the second and final IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship practice session prior to qualifying for tomorrow’s Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway.

Formal reeled off a 1:45.591 lap time in the GTD class entry to outpace the GTD Pro class pace-setting No. 4 Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R of Nicky Catsburg by 0.062 seconds.

The No. 59 Team RLL McLaren 720S GT3 Evo of Max Esterson made a late-session improvement to third quickest overall and second in GTD Pro.

Andrea Caldarelli and Casper Stevenson completed the top-five in their Pfaff Motorsports Lamborghini Temerario GT3 and DragonSpeed Corvette, respectively.

Robby Foley was sixth overall in the Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO, while Vasser Sullivan’s No. 14 Lexus RC F GT3 showed a return to form with Jack Hawksworth credited with the seventh quickest time overall, third in GTD Pro.

The top nine times were all under Fred Vervisch’s 1:46.065 lap time that paced Friday’s opening practice session.

The pair of factory Ford Mustang GT3 EVOs could only muster the tenth and 13th quickest times on the combined time charts in the 90-minute session.

The session had only a single red flag, for an accident by the No. 16 Myers Riley Motorsports Mustang of Felipe Fraga, who spun off into the Turn 5 barriers.

The car returned to action for the final 15 minutes with the Brazilian driver at the wheel after a rapid repair job by the Bill Riley-led operation.

Qualifying is next up and is scheduled for 4:50 p.m. EST with live coverage on Peacock as well as IMSA’s YouTube channel.
