EBM Enters Sydney Round With ‘Pink Pig’-Liveried Porsche

Porsche will rejoin the fight for overall honors in GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS in next month’s Sydney Motorsport Park round courtesy of Earl Bamber Motorsport, which has revealed plans to enter a 911 GT3 R in ‘Pink Pig’ colors.

EBM will end a two-year absence from the championship in the penultimate round of the season on Sept. 18-20 with a Pro-Am class-entered 991.2-generation 911 GT3 R for series debutants Tom McLennan and Andrew Georgiadis.

The No. 81 car will carry a livery paying tribute to the famous Porsche 917 that raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1971, which was revived by the Weissach brand for its Le Mans attack in 2018 and also appeared in the Suzuka 1000km last year.

It will be the first time a Porsche has fought in the Pro-Am division since the opening round of 2025 at Phillip Island, although Tigani Motorsport has ensured that the 911 has stayed on the grid this year with a Trophy class effort.

EBM team manager Ben Jenkins commented: “We’re really excited to be back with Tom, Andrew and the Porsche brand.

“It’s the first time we’ve been on the grid since 2024, but we’ve got good momentum in the SRO Motorsport Group world through the Suzuka 1000km, GT World Challenge Asia at Okayama and Sydney after that.

“We had a great test in Sydney to familiarize the guys with the track in addition to getting some more handy laps in the car.

“We’ll be looking to get some podiums and there is full confidence in the driver line-up to compete against a strong list of Pro-Am teams.

“This program comes at a good time due to Tom and Andrew being busy in Carrera Cup, plus the 991.2 is a model we know well from its four-year run on the global stage.

“Bringing the Porsche brand back to the outright battle is awesome, too.”

McLennan, 21, spent two seasons racing in Porsche Carrera Cup Australia and also has experience in the Monochrome GT4 Australia series.

“We’ve done two test days in the new Porsche at Queensland Raceway and I’m really excited to make my GT3 debut,” said McLennan. “I can’t wait to get down there just to figure how the Porsche handles a real high speed track.

“There’s similarities between the GT3-specification and a Cup Car at Queensland Raceway, but in Sydney it’s going to be totally different due to the high-speed nature of the layout. I’ve heard Turn 1 is flat, so that will be exciting in a GT3 R.

“I’ve never raced in GT3 before, but I’m excited for it and to compete against some of the leading Supercars drivers is an awesome opportunity.”

Georgiadis, who is a regular of Carrera Cup Australia’s Pro-Am division, added: “It’s an unreal experience to drive the new 911 GT3 R. The car is brilliant and the aero is something that I’m going to have to get used to.

“It’s a very, very quick package and obviously, the braking marker gets pushed back a bit further, so I just need to put my trust in it. We have some test days coming up, so we hopefully can dial ourselves in and prepare intricately.”
