Points-Leading Cadillac Takes BoP Hit for Road America

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTP points-leading Cadillac V-Series.R has been hit with a hefty weight increase ahead of next weekend’s Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix at Road America.

Confirmed in the release of the Balance of Performance table for the first-ever six-hour WeatherTech Championship enduro at the Wisconsin circuit, the three Cadillacs will be running 21 kg heavier than it did last time out in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.

This puts the Dallara-chassied LMDh car at a minimum weight of 1053 kg, as now the third-heaviest GTP car.

It comes after back-to-back wins for the No. 31 Action Express Racing entry of Jack Aitken and Earl Bamber, who were joined by Fred Vesti for top honors at Watkins Glen.

Second-place runner Laurin Heinrich, who will again be in JDC-Miller Motorsports’ 2025-spec Porsche 963, will also have some added weight in the form of 4 kg, while the factory 2026 Porsches will lose 7 kg

However, at 1066 kg, the Porsche Penske Motorsport entries remain the heaviest GTP cars in the class, with a nearly 50 kg swing to the lightest car, the Aston Martin Valkyrie, which will continue to run at 1020 kg, under the car’s homologation minimum weight for the second consecutive race.

While theAcura ARX-06 and BMW M Hybrid V8 also remain at the same weight from Watkins Glen, the BMW will notably have a 1.2 percent and 1.6 percent increase in power levels at the first and second stages, respectively.

The only larger swing comes with the JDC-Miller Porsche, which will lose 2.7 percent at speeds below 230 km/h but offset with a 1.7 percent increase at speeds higher than 240 km/h.

Corvette, Lexus Hit With BoP in GT Classes

The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R and Lexus RC F GT3 have been the hardest hit cars in the GT ranks for the penultimate Michelin Endurance Cup race of the season.

The Corvette has been handed a 15 kg increase in minimum weight, along with minor power adjustments, and the Lexus gets a 3 kg increase, but more importantly, a 3.7 percent decrease in Stage 1 power and 0.6 percent less in Stage 2.

Both the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, which leads the GTD class championship with Heart of Racing Team, gets a 15 kg weight break along with the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2, the latter which will also benefit from a 2.4 percent increase in first-stage power.

Also of note is the Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo, which sees the return of the likes of Endurance Cup-only entrants AF Corse and Risi Competizione, having received a 3.6 percent boost in first stage power, although with a 1.5 percent less power level at second stage.
