Fullwood Sweeps Darwin Round on Series Debut

Former Supercars ace Bryce Fullwood completed a clean sweep of race wins at the fourth round of Motorcraft Mustang Cup Australia at Hidden Valley Raceway.

Competing at his home track, 28-year-old Fullwood claimed a pole position and both race wins on Saturday and Sunday, although the second race proved challenging against his RM Racing Cars teammate and title leader Josh Anderson.

As Fullwood attempted to pass Anderson, he bumped him and, instead of risking a penalty, let Anderson back into the lead. Fullwood waited several laps for the right time to pass, which he did, and stormed off to a comfortable win.

Anderson completed the weekend with a third and second-place result, which was enough to maintain his title lead.

Joey Fawcett was the big improver in Darwin, finishing second and fourth in the two races, plus scoring his first pole position. He remains second in the series points and within striking distance of Anderson with two rounds remaining.

Series debutant Brock Stinson had a solid run in his first round of Mustang Cup, finishing fourth in the opener and third in the second race. This was the HMO Customer Racing team’s first event with its own Dark Horse R entry.

In the Dark Horse Legends class, John Goodacre was victorious on Saturday while Ben Dunn secured the win on Sunday.

The Motorcraft Mustang Cup Australia returns for the penultimate round at Sydney Motorsport Park on Sept. 18-20.
