Next year’s Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour will include the opening rounds of Monochrome GT4 Australia for the first time, with the SRO Australia-run championship set to serve as a support series for the Intercontinental GT Challenge season opener.
Confirmed in the release of the 2027 calendar at the annual SRO Motorsports Group press conference in Spa, GT4 Australia will bookend its season at Mount Panorama, with two confirmed rounds.
As previously reported by Sportscar365, a GT4 Australia undercard for the 12 Hour had been under evaluation by event promoter Supercars, as part of the its expansion to a four-day event for next year.
There will be two 60-minute races, one each on Friday and Saturday of the weekend, while the season will end with an endurance race at Bathurst as part of the Shannon’s SpeedSeries package.
“Every driver in the country looks forward to racing at Mount Panorama, so to have the most famous circuit in Australia feature on the calendar, especially holding an endurance event, is a fantastic outcome for the series and its stakeholders,” said SRO Australia CEO Ben McMellan.
“Also kicking off at the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour provides an incredible platform to launch the series, highlighting Monochrome GT4 Australia’s exceptional growth year-on-year.
“Combined with visits to Phillip Island, The Bend, Queensland Raceway and Sydney Motorsport Park as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries, we believe the calendar delivers a great balance of iconic venues and will no doubt offer another exciting year of GT4 racing.”
Since its inception two years ago, GT4 Australia has grown in prominence on the national motorsport scene, with eight different manufacturers represented across fields that have exceeded 30 entries.
