Memo Gidley collected his seventh GT America powered by AWS victory of the season at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta to complete his latest weekend clean sweep.

In a near carbon copy of his performance in Saturday’s Race 1, Gidley’s SKI Autosports Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II controlled proceedings from pole position and was never challenged after holding the lead at the start.

The 40-minute contest commenced in overcast conditions which gradually cleared and ran caution-free for the duration, allowing Gidley to concentrate on building his advantage over closest pursuer Tony Davis.

The HP TECH Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3 EVO driver was 4.804 seconds behind at the finish of a largely quiet race, in which he was unable to pressure Gidley but faced little threat from behind.

Joel Cortes recorded his first GT America podium finish of the season aboard his No. 19 RS1 Porsche 911 GT3-R after capitalising on a mistake from Kyle Washington.

The GMG Racing Porsche driver held third until shortly before mid-distance, when he ran slightly wide exiting Turn 11 and had to allow Cortes through.

The Porsche duo closed on Davis in the final laps, but without coming close enough to consider a move.

Scott Blind took fifth in his Ruckus Racing Porsche after diving past Marc Muzzo’s R.Ferri Motorsports Ferrari on the opening lap. Muzzo was unable to recover the position in the remainder of the race, though was slightly fortunate to start from his original grid position after struggling to fire up his No. 013 machine.

GT2 class winner Lawrence Tomlinson looked to be on course for seventh overall until a late spin at Turn 10 dropped him two positions, but the Ginetta chairman still took GT2 class honours aboard his Team LNT-run G56 GT2.

GT4 class winner Jason Bell finished 11th overall in his Racer’s Edge Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT4 and capped his race with a move on Dave Lecko’s RacingSupport Ginetta GTP8, which again claimed the Cup class.
