Six new additional cars are expected on the GT America powered by AWS grid this weekend at Circuit of The Americas, for Rounds 3 and 4 of the season.
The provisional 21-car entry list, features three new Ferrari 296 GT3 entires, a pair of additional Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evos and another Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo, further boosting the FIA Bronze-rated single driver sprint series.
One11 Competition and Ferrano Motorsports are set to field Ferraris in the SRO3 class for Jason McCarthy and Tony Ferrano, respectively, while Rodin Younessi, who was originally slated to take part in last month’s pair of season-opening races at Sonoma Raceway, is again listed in his AF Corse entry.
CJ Moses, known for his time in the series with an Audi R8 LMS GT2, has switched to a Mercedes-AMG fielded by Random Vandals Racing for his first start of the season, while Dan Knox returns to the series with his Lone Star Racing Mercedes-AMG.
Wright Motorsports, meanwhile, is set to field an additional Porsche for Jon Manship, who was present in the series last year at COTA, also with the Ohio-based team.
Of note, Mirco Schultis’ Callaway Corvette C7 GT3-R is not listed, with the U.S.-based German previously telling Sportscar365 he had no plans to contest the COTA round.
While 21 cars are on the entry list, the three Kellymoss Porsches are again expected to utilize the sessions for additional track time for their GT World Challenge America powered by AWS campaigns.
Only a single Cup entrant, the RacingSupport Ginetta GTP8 of David Lecko, is entered, as the Gotham Motorsports Ferrari 488 Challenge EVOs are only set to contest selected races.
A second GT4 car, however, will join the field, with RCX Motorsport’s Jozsef Petkes set to return to action in his Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, which will do battle with the Flying Lizard Motorsports BMW M4 GT4 EVO of Craig Lumsden.
SKI Autosports’ Memo Gidley, who swept the Sonoma weekend in his Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II, holds a 22-point lead over Kyle Washington of GMG Racing and Marc Muzzo, a further two points back in third, entering the weekend’s action.
A pair of practice sessions are on tap for Friday, followed by qualifying and Race 1 (3:20 p.m. CST) on Saturday and Race 2 on Sunday at 9:40 a.m. CST. Both 40-minute sprints will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
