Rutronik to Still Field a Porsche Alongside Lamborghini

Title-winning GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS squad Rutronik Racing will still field a Porsche in the series this year, despite switching its top-class focus to the new Lamborghini Temerario GT3, with Porsche factory driver Sven Mueller spearheading a Bronze Cup entry.

Mueller claimed the overall Endurance Cup title last season at the wheel of a Rutronik Porsche 911 GT3 R alongside Patric Niederhauser and Alessio Picariello.

But the squad will be defending that crown with a new lineup comprised of Lamborghini factory drivers for the Temerario GT3’s first year of competition.

However, Rutronik has not cut all ties with Porsche and will mount a Bronze Cup attack with Mueller and Antares Au contesting the full season.

Au was Endurance Cup runner-up in the division last year with Rutronik alongside Loek Hartog.

Mueller and Au will then be joined by reigning FIA World Endurance Championship LMGT3 title winner Riccardo Pera for the Endurance Cup rounds.

“I would like to express my sincere thanks to Porsche and Lamborghini for their cooperative collaboration, which makes this possible within the Rutronik Racing team,” said team boss Klaus Graf.

“The continuation of our collaboration with Sven Mueller, who has enjoyed great success with Rutronik Racing over the past two years, will certainly be a great added value. I am particularly pleased that he will be supporting Antares in the races this year.

“We narrowly missed out on the Bronze Cup title last year and would like to build on last year’s successes this year.”
