WTR ‘Wants’ Le Mans Return in Cadillac Hypercar Lineup

Wayne Taylor Racing has expressed its hope of returning to the 24 Hours of Le Mans for a second consecutive appearance in the French endurance classic according to team co-owner Wayne Taylor.

The factory Cadillac IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTP squad, which was granted a single Cadillac V-Series.R entry last year, is in a holding pattern according to Taylor, as it awaits a final decision from Cadillac on its possible additional entries.

Both WTR and fellow IMSA GTP squad Action Express Racing joined full-season FIA World Endurance Championship operation Hertz Team JOTA representing the brand at Circuit de la Sarthe in 2025, in what marked the first four-car Cadillac appearance in the modern era.

It’s unclear if Cadillac would be able to secure invites for both teams, although IMSA’s ‘at large’ invite, typically given to its GTP championship-winning team from the previous year, will not go to Porsche Penske Motorsport.

This is because the Porsche 963 will not contest a full season of the WEC, a key requirement for participation at Le Mans.

“If there is a chance that Cadillac and the FIA and ACO come to an agreement, I certainly want to be there for sure, 100 percent,” Wayne Taylor told Sportscar365.

“That’s the reason why I’d like to go because last year was like drinking water out of a firehouse. But we know enough now that we can go there and run a reasonable race.

“As of today, I can’t say whether we’re going or not going.”

Taylor indicated that its 2025 lineup of Ricky and Jordan Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque would remain unchanged if granted an invite.

The team’s fourth full season WeatherTech Championship driver, Louis Deletraz, has already a confirmed seat in AO by TF’s Oreca 07 Gibson, which won last year’s LMP2 Pro-Am class.

“We wouldn’t really want to change it,” said Taylor. “There’s no reason to change it.”

Chris Mitchum, Action Express’ director of race team operations, indicated to Sportscar365 that Cadillac could again have the capacity to run four cars, pending invites from the ACO.

“We heard that they want to do the most they can. Unfortunately there hasn’t been any decisions made yet,” he said.

“There’s a desire for everyone to always participate and support the best you can.

“That decision completely and whole-heartily lies with GM. Once the decision is made, we’ll react when we can.”

Mitchum indicated that AXR and WTR are already preparing for the race in the background, should either, or both, get the official nod.

“If you don’t have all your preparations together at this point, it’s pretty difficult,” he said.

“We’re always ready for whatever we’re asked to do. We make sure we’re ready.

“Whether it’s three years or the 10 [car] guys going last year, I think everybody’s going to have a level of infrastructure that you need.

“That infrastructure stays together and stays separate. From that side, I think both teams would be equally prepared on the amount of equipment and infrastructure that would be set aside.

“In all honesty that makes sense why the decision is not made yet. Because they realize we can still react.”

With no Porsches 963s on the grid, and the new-for-2026 Hypercar effort from Genesis effectively taking the slots previously held by Porsche Penske, it would appear that there could be space for both of the U.S.-based Cadillac entries.

However, it’s understood that a final decision from the luxury automaker would want another four-car effort has not yet been officially communicated.
