Sargeant Set for Mustang LMGT3 Drive With Proton

Logan Sargeant will make his FIA World Endurance Championship debut this year, having been confirmed as part of Proton Competition’s LMGT3 driver lineup.

The ex-Formula 1 driver along with fellow newly announced Ford Racing Hypercar driver Seb Priaulx, will spearhead the German squad’s two Ford Mustang GT3 EVOs in the WEC this year.

They replace Dennis Olsen and Ben Barker, who have been reassigned to full-time driving duties in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in Ford Multimatic Motorsports’ factory GTD Pro effort.

The 25-year-old Floridian, who turned his first laps in the Mustang GT3 in last November’s WEC Bahrain rookie test, previously told Sportscar365 that he was targeting multiple programs in different cars.

In addition to the WEC drive, Sargeant will also be taking part in next weekend’s Rolex 24 at Daytona in Era Motorsport’s Oreca 07 Gibson LMP2 entry that’s currently a one-off drive.

Sargeant will be joined in the No. 88 Proton Mustang GT3 EVO by the returning Giammarco Levorato and Stefano Gattuso, while Priualx will be the pro-graded driver in the No. 77 entry alongside Silver-rated Ben Tuck and American Bronze racer Eric Powell.

Previously, only Levorato and Tuck were confirmed in the lineups.

Powell competed in GT World Challenge America powered by AWS last year with Mustang GT3 customer Dollahite Racing, claiming multiple wins in the Am class, and also tested for the Christian Ried-led team in Bahrain last November.
