Former NTT IndyCar Series driver Jacob Abel will join Era Motorsport, filling the third seat in the team’s Oreca 07 Gibson for the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup rounds, beginning with this month’s season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The former Honda Performance Development Academy driver, who has a previous WeatherTech SportsCar Championship start in an Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 in the GTD class, will pilot the Indianapolis-based team’s LMP2 entry for the five rounds.

Abel, who is currently competing in the 2025-26 Asian Le Mans Series season with Vector Sport RLR, will join full season Era driver Naveen Rao and Alpine FIA World Endurance Championship pilot Ferdinand Habsburg, who is also confirmed for the Endurance Cup rounds only.

Ex-Formula 1 driver Logan Sargent completes the lineup for Daytona in the No. 18 entry.

“I can’t wait to get going in Daytona with the Era Motorsport group,” said Abel. “It’s been a fun experience learning prototype racing, and I’m excited to take on the challenge of some of the most prestigious endurance races in the world.

“It’s an honor to complete such a strong driver lineup with a team that has been so successful in LMP2.”

Team owner Kyle Tilley added: “Jacob’s history in open-wheel racing is going to make him a fantastic final addition to our 2026 lineup.

“We couldn’t be happier to welcome someone bringing his experience and racecraft to endurance racing, and as always, it is a joy to help foster that talent in young drivers.”
