Newly crowned IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge GS champion Jan Heylen will sub for Porsche Motorsport North America Selected Driver Riley Dickinson in this weekend’s Pirelli GT4 America season finale at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in ACI Motorsports’ Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
Helyen will help team owner/driver Curt Swearingin go for back-to-back Pro-Am class titles, as he and Dickinson currently sit second in the championship battle, just four points behind Josh Green and Sam Craven of Random Vandals Racing.
Swearingin won the GT4 America Pro-Am title last year with former PMNA Selected Driver Kay van Berlo.
“Bringing Jan on board gives our program an experienced, proven competitor who knows how to score when it matters most,” said Swearingin.
“Jan’s versatility and racecraft make him an ideal partner.
“We expect an aggressive weekend at Indy and are thrilled to have him in our lineup.”
Heylen will be seeking another title of his own in SRO America competition this weekend as the U.S.-based Belgian will be at the wheel of RS1’s Porsche 911 GT3 R in Saturday’s GT World Challenge America powered by AWS season-ending Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS.
He and co-driver Alex Sedgwick sit 33.5 points behind Random Vandals’ Kenton Koch and Connor De Phillippi with an outside chance of the Pro class championship.
“Indianapolis is an incredible track and this is a huge weekend,” said Heylen.
“It’s an honor to join Curt and the ACI Motorsports team for the title fight. Driving the GT3 R and the Cayman back-to-back will be a challenge, but I’ll give everything I have to help the No. 7 reach the top.”
Dickinson, who is missing Indianapolis due to his Porsche Carrera Cup North America commitments at Circuit of The Americas this weekend, a championship that he currently leads by just two points over Ryan Yardley heading into the final two races of the season in Austin.
For ACI, it’s also been a razor-thin title race all season in the GT4 America Pro-Am ranks.
“We’re close in the points and every position will matter at Indy,” said Swearingin. “The finale will be close and action-packed as the title is on the line.”
ACI’s second Porsche GT4 entry will tackle Indy with the unchanged lineup of Dan Sibille and PMNA Selected Driver Loek Hartog, who is also entered to take part in the Indy 8H at the wheel of a Pro-Am class Wright Motorsports Porsche.
