Pirelli GT4 America is set for a triple-header weekend at Barber Motorsport Park, with the called-off Race 1 at Road America scheduled to run on Friday afternoon at the 2.38-mile, 17-turn circuit in Alabama.
The 60-minute, eighth round of the season, is scheduled for a 3:45 p.m. CST start on Friday, which will be preceded by two practice sessions and two test session, along with a Paid Bronze Test on Thursday.
A total of 23 cars are entered for the penultimate weekend of the season, down from the 25 that were present at Road America.
The most notable absentee is the No. 52 Auto Technic Racing BMW M4 GT4 EVO of Colin Garrett and Zac Anderson, who currently sit fourth in the Silver class drivers’ points standings.
Anderson notably had contact with another competitor in the one-and-only race at Road America, finishing last in class.
Mike David Ortmann, who won the race as a solo driver, is expected to have usual co-driver Braydon Arthur back in the No. 4 JMF Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo.
Despite showing Michael Kanisczak in the No. 98 Random Vandals Racing BMW on the pre-event entry list, Darius Trinka is expected to continue as Paul Sparta’s new co-driver for the remainder of the season in the Am class entry.
Following their runner-up finish at Road America, Random Vandals’ Kenton Koch and Kevin Boehm have extended their lead in Silver to 40 points over Gresham Wagner and Tyler Gonzalez of RAFA Racing team, with Ortmann jumping into third courtesy of his win.
BimmerWorld’s Tyler McQuarrie and James Walker Jr. have retaken the lead in Pro-Am after a race to forget for Josh Green and Sam Craven of Random Vandals, while James Clay and Charlie Postins hold a narrow three-point lead in Am, following an early end to their day in Race 2 at Road America.
The remainder of the GT4 America weekend schedule largely remains unchanged following Friday’s Road America make-up race.
Qualifying for Rounds 10 and 11 are on tap for Saturday at 10:15 a.m., with Race 1 scheduled for a 4:50 p.m. start later that day. Race 2 is set for Sunday at 11:10 a.m., with all three races to be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
